Epic Universe Introduces Harry Potter’s Ministry of Magic

Universal Orlando Resort has provided a closer look at the Harry Potter-themed world coming to its new Epic Universe park, set to open in 2025. This new attraction, named the Ministry of Magic, will be the fifth and final themed world in Epic Universe.
Upon entering through a portal, visitors will find themselves in a Muggle park styled after 1920s Paris, inspired by the Fantastic Beasts films. This area will feature Haussmannian architecture, shops, cafes, and Parisian domes, setting the stage for an authentic experience that fans of the Wizarding World will appreciate. The portal itself is an attraction, named MétroFloo, which creatively combines the concept of the Paris Métro with the magical transportation method of the Floo Network, transporting guests to the British Ministry of Magic.

One of the main attractions will be the dark ride, “Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry,” where guests join Harry, Ron, Hermione, and a house-elf named Higgledy in a thrilling chase to capture Dolores Umbridge. This ride promises dynamic movements and encounters with Death Eaters and magical creatures.

The Ministry of Magic will also include “Le Cirque Arcanus,” a live stage show hosted by Ringmaster Skender from the Fantastic Beasts series. The show will feature aerialists, puppeteers, and special effects, focusing on the rescue of magical creatures from Skender’s clutches.
The area will offer unique shopping experiences, including bespoke wands at Cosme Acajor Baguettes Magique and other themed shops such as K. Rammelle for candies and Les Galeries Mirifiques for wizarding gear. Interactivity with magical creatures like Nifflers and Bowtruckles will enhance the immersive experience.
For dining, options will include Café L’Air De La Sirène, offering French cuisine, and Le Gobelet Noir, which caters to fans of the Dark Arts. Adults can enjoy themed beverages at Bar Moonshine, making it a comprehensive experience for visitors of all ages.

The Ministry of Magic is part of the larger Epic Universe, which will also feature worlds based on How to Train Your Dragon, Universal Monsters, and Super Nintendo World. The park aims to set new standards in theme park entertainment with its blend of beloved characters, stories, and state-of-the-art attractions.

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers in Concert

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers in Concert is performing at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Orlando, Florida on August 9-11, 2024.

Composer Howard Shore brings J.R.R. Tolkien’s literary imagination to vivid life with his Academy® and Grammy® Award-winning score to The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. Shore’s music expresses Peter Jackson’s film as an immense symphonic work—a uniquely developed vision drawn from centuries of stylistic tendencies.

The music of The Lord of the Rings is counted among film music’s most complex and comprehensive works. This unique performance sets the score to the film, but allows the music to bear the narrative weight, creating a wholly new and dramatic live concert experience.

Shore’s score not only captures Fellowship’s sweeping emotion, thrilling vistas and grand journeys, but also echoes the very construction of Tolkien’s Middle-earth. Styles, instruments and performers collected from around the world provide each of Tolkien’s cultures with a unique musical imprint. In operatic fashion, these musical worlds commingle, sometimes combining forces for a culminated power, other times violently clashing…and always bending to the will of the One Ring and its own ominous family of themes.
